Start with the listing
Before you contact anyone or pay anything, inspect the listing carefully:
- check the price, location, and property type
- compare photos with the description
- look for recent updates or freshness signals
- read any host, landlord, or agent information shown on PropatyHub
- make sure the listing actually matches your request
If important details are missing, ask for clarification before taking the next step.
Be careful with payment requests
Be cautious if someone asks you to pay before you have verified the property.
Warning signs include:
- pressure to pay immediately
- payment to an unrelated personal account
- refusal to provide viewing details
- fees that were not mentioned in the listing
- a price that looks too good to be true
Verify the property, the person, and the payment terms before sending money. PropatyHub does not guarantee off-platform interactions.
Use platform signals
Where available, use PropatyHub signals to reduce risk:
- verified host or identity cues
- listing status and freshness
- photos, videos, and descriptions
- saved collections for comparing options
- request feedback markers to keep your own search organised
Signals help you make a better decision, but they are not a substitute for your own checks.
When a response comes from a request
Treat a request response as a suggested match, not a final recommendation.
Check:
- whether the linked listing fits your original request
- whether the note explains why it was sent
- whether any difference from your request is clearly stated
- whether you are comfortable taking the next step
If the response is not relevant, use the feedback marker instead of following up.
Off-platform follow-up
If you choose to contact someone outside PropatyHub:
- keep records of important messages
- avoid sharing sensitive personal information too early
- confirm viewing details before travelling
- do not pay until you have verified the property and payment terms
- stop if anything feels inconsistent or rushed
The `contacted` feedback marker only says you reported contact. It does not prove that a viewing, payment, or agreement happened.
Report concerns
If something looks suspicious or unsafe, use the support route at `/support` and include:
- the listing link
- the request link if relevant
- screenshots or notes that explain the concern
- any payment request details, without sharing card or bank secrets
